Raised garden beds offer one of the most reliable and rewarding ways to grow flowers, herbs, and vegetables in Colorado’s dry, unpredictable climate. They allow you to build healthy soil, improve drainage, and create a beautiful, intentional space that becomes more productive with each passing season.
This hands-on workshop will guide you through planning, building, filling, and planting raised beds so your garden is set up for lasting success. Beyond the physical structure, you will learn how to approach planting through the rhythm of the seasons—understanding when to plant cool-season, warm-season, hot-season, and cold-tolerant crops, rather than relying on confusing zone charts alone.
This seasonal framework brings clarity to the gardening process and allows you to work with Colorado’s natural patterns instead of against them.
Whether you are building your first raised bed or refining an existing space, this workshop will give you the knowledge and confidence to create a productive and beautiful garden at home.
During this 2-hour workshop, you will learn:
• How to plan and position raised beds for sun, wind, and accessibility
• The best materials and dimensions for long-lasting raised beds
• How to properly fill beds using soil and compost layering techniques
• How to transplant seedlings safely into raised beds
• When to plant cool-season, warm-season, hot-season, and cold-tolerant crops throughout the year
• How to use seasonal timing to keep your garden productive longer
You will take home:
• Four starter plants grown at Shari Ann Farms
• A laminated Shari Ann Farms raised bed and seasonal planting workbook
• Garden supplies to support planting at home
Light refreshments and beverages will be provided.
At the end of the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase additional farm-grown seedlings ready for their raised beds.
This workshop is timed to coincide with Colorado’s planting season, so you can return home ready to build, plant, and move confidently into the growing season.
