Summer Garden Workshop: Sustain, Harvest, and Replant with the Seasons
By early summer, your garden is no longer something you are planning—it is something you are living with. Plants are growing quickly, the sun is stronger, and the decisions you make now determine whether your garden continues to thrive or begins to decline under Colorado’s dry heat and wind.
This hands-on workshop will teach you how to care for your raised beds and garden through the intensity of summer while preparing for continued harvest and future planting. You will learn how to support plants through heat stress, harvest properly to encourage continued production, and replant with the next seasonal transition in mind.
Rather than viewing gardening as a single spring event, you will learn how to work within the rhythm of cool, warm, hot, and cold seasons—allowing your garden to remain productive and beautiful far beyond early summer.
This workshop is ideal for gardeners who have recently planted raised beds or want to better understand how to sustain and extend their growing season.
During this 2-hour workshop, you will learn:
• How to care for raised beds during Colorado’s dry summer conditions
• Proper watering techniques for deep, resilient root systems
• How and when to harvest vegetables and cut flowers to encourage continued growth
• How to recognize and reduce plant stress from heat, wind, and sun
• What can still be planted during the hot season
• How to plan ahead for fall and cool-season planting
You will take home:
• Four established transplants grown at Shari Ann Farms
• A laminated Shari Ann Farms summer garden and seasonal planting workbook
• Garden supplies to support continued planting at home
Light refreshments and beverages will be provided.
At the end of the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase additional farm-grown plants to expand their gardens.
This workshop will help you move beyond simply planting a garden and into sustaining one that continues to grow, produce, and evolve through the seasons.

Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Shari Ann Farms, Kiowa, Colorado
