There is something deeply hopeful about starting a garden from seed. In the quiet of early spring, before anything is growing outside, you begin the process that will carry you through the entire season.
This hands-on workshop is designed for beginners and aspiring gardeners who want to confidently start their own flowers, herbs, or vegetables from seed. You will learn exactly what to start in Colorado’s climate, when to start it, and how to grow strong, healthy seedlings that are ready to thrive when planting season arrives.
Together, we will walk through the full seed starting process step by step. You will plant your own tray during the workshop and leave knowing you can recreate the process at home.
This is not a lecture. It is a guided, small-group experience on a working flower farm, where you can ask questions, learn practical skills, and begin your garden with clarity and confidence.
During this 2-hour workshop, you will learn:
• What seeds to start indoors in early spring
• The exact soil, containers, and lighting setup you need
• How to prevent leggy or weak seedlings
• Proper watering and early care techniques
• How to prepare your seedlings for transplanting outdoors
You will take home:
• A 6-cell seed tray that you seeded yourself
• A laminated Shari Ann Farms seed starting workbook
• Garden supplies to continue your growing at home
Light refreshments and beverages will be provided.
At the end of the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase additional farm-grown seedlings to expand their gardens.
Whether you plan to grow a small kitchen garden or an abundant cutting garden, this workshop will give you the foundation to begin.
